Radio Elland attended the grand opening ceremony of the Elland Community Hub this morning.
Hundreds of local people attended the Hub to have a look around and see stalls set up by local charities and services. Those attending included Staying Well, Healthy Minds, Elland Family Hub, Calderdale Neighborhoods Team, The Police, BRSK, Elland Christian Centre, United For Autism, Newground Together and more.
This Hub is almost complete but there is still some work to do over the next few weeks, the lions share is done and the building is set to be an impressive community asset.
The project has been funded by the Governments Future High Streets Fund and managed by Calderdale Council. The work has been carried out by CODE Buildings and today’s event has been organised by the team at the Cartwheel Youth & Community Centre Charity.
Joe Braithwaite, who was part of the team who put in a bid for the funding back in 2019, was extremely pleased with how the building is looking. The building was essentially derelict and had suffered extreme damage because of a water leak which happened when the the building was closed due to the pandemic but is now set to be a jewel in Elland’s crown.
