Providence Chapel has been purchased by Elland Christian Centre who plan to use the grade 2 listed building as a place of worship and as the spiritual home of the congregation.

Elland Christian Centre is currently located on Newcombe Street and serves the community by having a monthly luncheon club called “SAGE” which is aimed at the over 55’s. The Church runs a youth group called “Collide” which is aimed at school age Children 4 – 16 years old, This group meets weekly at 6:30pm – 7:45pm each Wednesday. “Tot’s Time” meets each Thursday at 10am – 11:30am and is a group for pres-school children and their parents. Each Friday there is “Centre Cafe” where a reasonably priced meal can be bought and eaten in good company 11:30am to 7pm. The Christian centre is also well used by other organisations.

It is expected that some works will be need to be carried out at Providence Chapel to modernise the building to suit the needs the Church and all works will be carried out sympathetically to the age and character of the remarkable building.

An announcement on social media read:

We have the keys!

Thank you to those who have supported us with prayer, encouragement and practical help to enable us to get to this point and to the Lord for his faithfulness to us. We are so looking forward to being more central to Elland and are excited for what God has planned for us!

“Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies”

(Psalm 36:5)
